Er. Sushant Chalise is an engineer, researcher, and educator based at the Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University — Nepal's premier technical institution. His current research sits at the intersection of computer vision, structural health monitoring, and AI: his M.Sc. thesis developed a low-cost, marker-based computer-vision system for pose estimation and dynamic-response tracking of civil structures, carried out in part during an Erasmus+ research mobility in the Civil Structures Laboratory at the University of Sannio, Italy.
Alongside this, he is a Research Contributor to SOI Asia's DHASH project on digital cultural heritage and open science, collaborating with institutions across the Asia-Pacific and presenting DHASH work in Yokohama, Japan and at the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. He also instructs Samsung Innovation Campus courses in programming, data science, and big data analytics at Pulchowk Campus, where he has served in system administration and ICT infrastructure roles since 2019.
His research path began with an M.Sc. in Climate Change and Sustainable Development, for which he received an earlier Erasmus+ mobility grant to conduct thesis research in Italy on solar radiation estimation using hybrid AI models. He also co-founded Green Coins Pvt. Ltd., a climate-tech social enterprise developed with the UNDP Accelerator Lab, and serves as IEEE Young Professionals Chair.
